Praised as an artist "whose clear diction is married to a compelling voice," Camden McLean, Soprano has maintained a diverse career in the operatic world, equally comfortable in modern and traditional performance practices. Her passion has taken her nationally to The Sarasota Opera, Opera Naples, Quincy Music Theater, and The Chicago College of Performing Arts, and internationally to Vancouver, Canada.
Last season, Ms. McLean performed as Suzette in Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts production of Bluebeard’s Waiting Room. In the 2021-2022 season, she performed her role debut of the title role in Russian Opera Workshop’s production of Iolanta by Tchaikovsky. She also sang in the world premieres of Kyong Mee Choi’s Pale Courage as an ensemble member and Daron Hagen’s 9/10; Love before the Fall as Trina. Her recent graduate recital featured songs by Rossini, Strauss, Poldowski, and Walker, and had the honor of premiering a set of songs in English composed by Daron Hagen.
Past performance credits include the role of Second Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte at Quincy Music Theater and Hero in Berlioz’s Beatrice and Benedict. Ms. McLean made her professional debut at age 15, as Gherardino with Sarasota Opera.
Ms. McLean earned her Bachelor of Music degree from Florida State University in 2019, and her Master of Music degree Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts in 2023. She is currently studying with Marcy Stonikas.
